Lane closures on Hwy 70 in Saline, Garland Counties suspended for remainder of week

LITTLE ROCK (AHTD) – Lane closures in place on Highway 70 in Garland and Saline counties between Hot Springs and Interstate 30 will be suspended the remainder of this week, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.

Crews have been performing geotechnical drilling and sampling in preparation for widening Highway 70. The work has required lane closures this month.  However, due to an expected high volume of traffic headed to Hot Springs for events at Oaklawn Park and for the statewide high school basketball tournament, those closures have been cancelled for Thursday and Friday.  Closures were not scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.

The lane closures will be back in place weekdays only 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. when work resumes on Monday, March 17th.

The project to widen Highway 70 is part of AHTD’s Connecting Arkansas Program. More information on this project is available at ConnectingArkansasProgram.com

Beginning Monday, motorists should exercise caution when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones. Additional travel information can be found at IDriveArkansas.com or ArkansasHighways.com. You can also follow us on Twitter @AHTD.
