People fighting cancer and the people who love and care for them now have a place to go when they need assistance in coping with all aspects of the disease.

Our Promise Cancer Resources, a new nonprofit organization providing financial assistance and resources to cancer patients in south central Arkansas, will officially open at its Kick-Off event from 5:30-7 p.m. at Central Park Fusion Cuisine at 200 Park Ave.

Teen Challenge Annual Banquet

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. -- Teen Challenge of Arkansas will be hosting their annual Faith Promise Banquets on April 7  in Hot Springs, April 8  in Little Rock, and April 9  in Jonesboro. The Faith Promise Banquets are Teen Challenge’s major fundraiser, and lay the financial foundation for the fiscal year. Tickets are complimentary, but donations will be solicited. This years’ guest speaker is former Teen Challenge graduate, Preston Nuckols.

When Preston Nuckols came into the Teen Challenge of Arkansas program in 1994, he was broken and addicted. That was seventeen years ago. When he graduated from the program, he had a new life in Christ and a future that was bright.

Dozens of doggies Bark for Life

“Team Weyerhaeuser,” which supports the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life event, is hosting a special fundraiser called Bark For Life from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., Saturday, March 26 to be held in the Magic Springs & Crystal Falls parking area.  The event is a relay for dog lovers and their favorite canine companions.

LRFW brings style to UAMS Black Expo

LRFW brings style to UAMS Black Expo

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Little Rock Fashion Week (LRFW) will headline the Seventh Annual Midsouth Summit Black Expo with a fashion presentation, highlighting a few clothing lines to be featured at Little Rock Fashion Week 2011.

The expo is February 26, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Metroplex, located 10800 Colonel Glenn Road. The LRFW presentation is scheduled for 1:40 p.m. The expo and fashion show is free and is open to the public.

Attendees will get a sneak peak into this summer’s favorite fashion experience. The LRFW showcase will preview sophisticated, trendy and couture fashions by Savers, the Nicole McGehee Collection (LRFW 2010 Clothing Line of the Year), NaJo by Natasha Rawls (LRFW 2009 Clothing Line of the Year) and introduce Graffiti by 13-year old fashion designer Aaliyah Fisher, who will become the youngest designer to ever showcase in a fashion week.

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. - If you're trying to eat healthier, check out St. Joseph’s new healthy restaurant, The Tea Leaf Grill. There will be a public event from 11 a.m. to noon on Thursday, February 24, at the St. Joseph’s Mercy Health Center in Hot Springs.

It will begin with cardiologist Dr. Oyidie Igbokidi talking about taking care of your heart and ways to keep it healthy. We’ll also have a cooking demonstration, featuring recipes from the Tea Leaf Grill, which is open at the Mercy South Campus (formerly HealthPark). There will be samples of the food and we’ll have information about Mercy’s Healthification program, designed to help our co-workers get healthier.
