Graces Guild celebrates fifth anniversary with luncheon honoring Anita Cabe

Five years ago, the Graces Guild was born when seven ladies invited two hundred of their friends to support a young musician and artist who had lost her home and piano to Hurricane Katrina.  Since that time, the network of friends has grown in pursuit of their common goal, supporting the arts in Hot Springs and the surrounding region through the Muses Creative Arts Project.

Each year, to mark this initial act of kindness, The Muses Creative Artistry Project honors other women for their generosity and commitment to the arts in the State of Arkansas and to the Hot Springs community.  The 2012 Graces Women’s Guild Luncheon, supporting The Muses Creative Artistry Project, to be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 31 at the Hot Springs Country Club, will honor well-known philanthropist Anita Cabe.  Regarding the recognition, Cabe said, “I am very honored to be recognized by  The Graces Guild and The Muses Project.  I believe under the direction of Deleen Davidson, The Muses has brought much to Hot Springs and the surrounding areas.  The Hale Bathhouse capital project, where The Muses will restore and renovate it into an arts and cultural center, will be incredible.”

Anita Boyce Cabe was born in Grenada, MS. She has a twin sister named Annette.  She was raised in Marianna, AR. and attended TA Futrall High School.  She attended Henderson State University to study business and is Class of 1967 alumnus.  Mrs. Cabe and her husband Charles have a son, Clay Cabe, and daughter-in-law, Sarah.

Cabe has served for 23 years as board secretary/treasurer of the C. Louis & Mary C. Cabe Foundation.   She is also a board member of the Henderson State University Foundation, Wesley Foundation and the Brandon Burlsworth Foundation.  Anita was a Henderson Trustee for 14 years.  She has also served as President of local Chamber of Commerce and Rotary Club.  She is very active in her community and is a member of Gurdon First United Methodist Church.

Tickets to the Graces Guild Luncheon are $50.  All proceeds support and promote The Muses’ mission to help individuals experience creative renewal and deeper understanding of their own needs for artistic expression and balance in life.    For reservations, call 501-463-4514, or visit www.themusesproject.org
