Red Cross: Winter weather impacts blood donations

LITTLE ROCK, AR — Significant winter weather has visited Arkansas. This has caused cancellations of blood drives across the region as travel has become difficult.

Following the long holiday season, blood supplies are historically low and will be further impacted by snow and ice.  To help keep the supply of blood readily available to those in need, the American Red Cross is asking eligible donors to make every effort possible to give blood today at accessible drives over the next few days.

Blood drives, center locations, and hours of operation are available at http://www.redcrossblood.org/ and 800-REDCROSS.

The demand for blood is constant and winter storms will have an immediate impact on supplies.  When severe weather strikes it is very important that those of us who are healthy and able make every effort to donate in support of members of our community needing blood now.

Please consider donating blood as soon as possible.  Patients are waiting now for your generous support.
