Oct. 28 is Arkansas Weatherization Day

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Little Rock Mayor Mark Stodola will spoke at a celebration of the energy-saving Weatherization Assistance Program at 10:00 a.m. on Oct. 28 at the River Market Pavilion in downtown Little Rock.

The program, which makes improvements to the homes of those of low and moderate income to make them more energy efficient, safe, and healthy, is funded by the federal Department of Energy, administered by the state Office of Community Services (OCS), and operated primarily by the community action agencies. Since it was begun in 1976, it has injected more than $160 million into communities to improve more than 73,900 homes, helping Arkansans conserve home energy and save income for other necessities.

Tuesday forecast

A few storms will continue over south Arkansas through the morning hours, then skies will become partly cloudy to sunny and a little warmer today. A surface trough will move through this afternoon with drier air in its wake. Warmer temperatures are in store for Wednesday and Thursday with high's in the mid-80s.

Tuesday: Partly Cloudy, High 84. Wind W 5-10mph.

Monday forecast

A cold front moved through the state Sunday with strong storms producing large hail, and damaging wind in eastern Arkansas.  Monday looks a lot better with a fresh batch off cool Autumn air and sunshine. We will have a few changes and a slight warming trend through the rest of the week before another front blows through Thursday.

Monday:  Mostly sunny and pleasant. High 78. Wind NW 5-10mph.

Weekend weather forecast

Friday marks the first day of Autumn with cool crisp fall readings expected in the state today with sunny skies.  The weekend looks mainly dry with sunshine both Saturday and Sunday. However and upper-level disturbance will bring a rain chance by late in the weekend.
