In Woods Expo Coming to Hot Springs June 18-20

HOT SPRINGS, ARK. – The In-Woods Expo - a live, outdoor forestry event open to the public - takes place just outside of Hot Springs this coming June. The Arkansas Timber Producers Association (ATPA) and Hatton-Brown Publishers Inc. have partnered to bring a larger-than-ever expo show, sure to entertain families, educate forestry professionals from across the South, and exhibit the latest advancements in forestry and logging technology.

HOT SPRING, Ark. - Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Joan Jett, is set to perform at Magic Springs on Saturday, June 20 at 8 p.m. Crash Meadows of Hot Springs will be the opening act at 7 p.m.

Jett is best known for her work with Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, including their hit record "I Love Rock 'n' Roll", which was No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.  The group’s other popular recordings include:  "Crimson and Clover", "I Hate Myself for Loving You", "Do You Wanna Touch Me", "Light of Day", "Love is All Around" and "Bad Reputation".

She has three albums certified Platinum or Gold and was inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April of this year.

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (KTHV) - Several activities are happening at Magic Springs this weekend, including an award-winning artist performing on the park's stage. 

The theme park will host Family Force 5 on Friday, June 12 and award-winning artist Lecrae on Saturday, June 13. Both performances will begin at 7 p.m. 

The Magic Springs Character Series will continue with "Thor" in the park on Friday. Lunch tickets available at the website and a free appearance at the Pine Cone Theater at 2:00 p.m. for those in the park. 

The Magic Springs Water and Theme Park is open 7 days a week for the summer season through August 16.

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. - Magic Springs Water and Theme Park has unveiled its 2015 concert series, comprising a diverse lineup of artists including country, rock, hip-hop, Christian and a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee.

“We have a great lineup for 2015 and believe our guests will be thrilled with the quality of entertainment we have coming,” said park general manager, Steve Honeycutt.  “It’s the best entertainment value in the state. Each concert costs a little more than $4 when you purchase a season ticket and you get access to the water and theme park all summer.”

Marines to conduct Memorial weekend, 60-mile hike

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (KTHV) - The United States Reserve Marines has a special mission for this 2015 Memorial Day weekend. 

This unit, which is based at Camp Pike in North Little Rock will be hiking from Hot Springs to Little Rock on May 24 and 25.  This 60-mile hike will begin at 5 a.m. Sunday and is expected to end by 5 p.m. Monday. The starting point will be at the Veterans Memorial Park in Hot Springs and will end at the Arkansas Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock. 

This event is an India Company tradition dating back to the late 1940s. It is used to raise awareness while commemorating India Company's history and testing the physical and mental endurance of Marines.

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (KTHV) - After cancelling the original opening date, Oaklawn plans to open its gates to the public Thursday. 

Thursday’s nine-race card is anchored by the $100,000 Dixie Belle Stakes for 3-year-old fillies at six furlongs, and also features the return for 2014 Arkansas Derby and Preakness runner-up Ride On Curlin in a second-level allowance sprint.

Nine of Oaklawn’s 10 leading trainers from last year have returned, including three-time defending champion Steve Asmussen. Among the high-profile training newcomers are Tony Dutrow, Wayne Catalano, Mike Stidham, Steve Margolis, Karl Broberg and Robertino Diodoro.

Broberg (325), Asmussen (294) and Diodoro (244) ranked first, second and fifth, respectively, in the country in victories last year.

Magic Springs finishes summer with final water park weekend on September 27, 28

Magic Springs Water and Theme Park announced the water park only will be open for its final weekend on Saturday, September 27 and Sunday, September 28, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is $15 per person and the park will be offering 50% off on special meal deals and an all-you-can-eat buffet, $9.99 for adults and $6.99 for children 10 and under.

The park will reopen Saturday, October 11 for its annual Halloween festival “Magic Screams,” continuing each Saturday and Sunday through November 2 including Halloween, Friday, Oct. 31.
