LITTLE ROCK, AR- Congressional candidate Beth Anne Rankin of Magnolia officially filed to run for Congress from the Fourth Congressional district Friday.

"As an entrepreneur and daughter of a free-market economist, I recognize that our country faces the choice of two futures.  The federal government is in a fiscal death-spiral because we have for too long sent leaders to Washington who drink the Potomac Punch and become intoxicated on spending.  We will either continue on the current path of unsustainable debt and a European-style, cradle-to-grave government, or we will reclaim the entrepreneurial spirit and re-focus our dedication to the free market system, liberty, freedom and citizen-centered solutions," Rankin said.

Rankin, a seventh-generation Arkansan who has lived in Arkansas for over forty years, is seeking the Republican nomination for the 33 county district.

She paid her filing fee and then filed as a candidate with the Arkansas Secretary of State's office during a visit to the State Capitol.

"While I was in the Capitol, the history of that building re-enforced my resolve to see Congress pass a Balanced Budget Amendment.  The Legislature is in session right now and they pass a balanced budget each year," Rankin said.  "Washington need to follow Arkansas' lead and pass a balanced budget amendment."

Rankin is an entrepreneur, small business owner, professional speaker, teacher, and a former Policy Advisor to Governor Mike Huckabee.  While working for Huckabee she was the advisor to Capitol Hill, the White House, and the various governors' associations.

Huckabee endorsed Beth Anne saying, "Beth Anne will be a simply magnificent Congresswoman not just for the Fourth District, but a true leader in Congress.  She knows the people and the issues facing the Fourth District because she was born, raised, educated and lived in the Fourth for most of her life.  She will not need any on-the-job training once she gets to Washington."

Rankin attended Southern Arkansas University and Ouachita Baptist University where she graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1994.  She is a Life Member of the National Rifle Association and member of the National Federation of Independent Business.
