Gurdon woman wins $40K on Hot Springs lotto ticket

Lucille Beasley of Gurdon bought a real "Lucky Lottery Ticket" at the Corner Liquor Store in Hot Springs. She cashed in the $40,000 winning ticket on Thursday. The lucky winning ticket was a $2 POWERBALL TICKET plus the $1 Power Play option.

Lucille had no idea she had won until she made the prize claim.  She plans to pay on her home and buy her daughter a car.

Mr. Herschel Winningham, who had been reported missing Monday, has returned home and is OK, according to Lt. James Martin with the Garland County Sheriff's Department.

At approximately noon today our deputies were dispatched to a verbal disagreement involving a father and daughter in the 1700 block of Hwy 290 in Garland County.

The father, 53 year old Hershel Winningham, got mad and walked away from the residence and was last seen by his daughter walking into a field and heading north toward the Andrew Hulsey Fish Hatchery.

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. -- A water treatment plant operator with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has returned to his normal duties at DeGray Lake after a 21 month deployment to Afghanistan.

Charles V. (“Vince”) Kirtley was deployed to Kabul, Afghanistan from 6 March 2011 until 15 December 2012.

During his deployment to Afghanistan, Kirtley served as deputy chief of operations and maintenance execution branch in operations and maintenance division, Transatlantic District North (TAN), Kabul. He supervised as many as 20 Corps contracting officer’s representatives and local national quality assurance representatives. He was responsible for tracking all major contractual and maintenance issues for approximately 350 sites in North Afghanistan. His duties also included reporting the status of site additions and transition of sites to the Afghan National Security Forces and reporting security issues in the vicinity of the sites.

Hot Springs, Ark. (KTHV) - The Village Big Band will be playing a free holiday concert to kick off the Holiday Lights on November 17th. The music will start at 6:00 p.m. at the Garvan Woodland Gardens. The concert is free and open to the public, but seating is limited.

Larry Scruggs, former Little Rock Fashion Week (LRFW) Model of the Year, has been selected as a VIP model at New Orleans Fashion Week. Scruggs, of Pine Bluff, Ark., will hit the runway Thursday, October 18th at 9:30 pm wearing The Dope. Game lifestyle clothing line inspired by 90s hip-hop.

“I’m excited and truly honored to be part of New Orleans Fashion Week,” says Scruggs. “It’s a blessing as well as an opportunity for me to represent myself, Oneofakind Talent agency, and the great state of Arkansas. I’m so ready for this.”

Scruggs made his fashion debut as a first time model at LRFW 2010. Since then, he has been in several fashion shows, including Arkansas Democrat-Gazette Bridal Runway Show and print ads, most noticeable Levi’s and LRG featured in Dillard’s fall season catalogue that was distributed at Dillard’s department stores nationwide.
