New Civil War Museum to open in Hot Springs
News

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (AP) - A new Civil War museum focusing on the Trans-Mississippi area is set to open in Hot Springs.

The Sentinel-Record (http://bit.ly/1Ot0MfF) reports that The Civil War Museum West is expected to open its doors during the latter part of the year, but a museum preview center trailer will open in February.

Museum owner and founder Rick Williams along with executive director Dennis Magee worked to gather the museum's collection of artifacts, flags, photographs, swords and guns to be put on display.

The museum will offer either a guided tour or a self-guided tour through 10 areas of various subjects about the war.

Magee hopes that the museum will preserve Civil War history and will educate generations to come about the area, which was west of the Mississippi River, during the war.
