HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (KTHV) -- The city of Hot Springs has officially signed off on allowing cleanup efforts to begin on the Majestic Hotel site.

The city signed off on a contract to allow Spirtas Wrecking Company out of St. Louis begin cleanup on the abandoned hotel destroyed by a fire in February of 2014.

The city purchased the building for $600,000 from the previous owner last summer. This cleanup contract will cost $288,000.

According to the Hot Springs Mayor, Ruth Carney, it will take around six weeks to complete the cleanup.
