Hot Springs officials open for bids to clean up Majestic Hotel

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (KTHV) - Hot Springs city leaders are now ready to clean up the Majestic Hotel.

It's a process that has been in the works for months, and bids are now being taken to start the abatement process.

Hot Springs officials are asking for companies to fill out a formal Request for Proposals (FRP) for abatement and demolition services. The first area they will tackle is what they call the "yellow brick section" of the hotel.

Lance Spicer at the City Manager's Office said cleaning up the "yellow brick area" will take approximately two months. What they needed to do before the process started was to complete an abatement survey to assess the areas with hazardous waste.

Now that that part of the process has been finished, Spicer said they can move on to accepting bids from removal companies.

Here is what you need to know if you're interested in bidding:

  • A mandatory pre-bid and on-site meeting will be held at 9 a.m. on December 9 at the City Hall Annex, 111 Opera Street.
  • Requests for clarification of any portion of the RFP are due by 2 p.m. on December 18, with questions and answers posted by 5 p.m. on December 18.
  • Sealed proposals are due by 2 p.m. on January 4, 2016, and all bids will be opened publicly.
  • Complete screening and ranking of proposers and proposals will be completed by January 11, 2016. A contract approval date is set for January 19, 2016
