Arkansas hunters feeding the hungry

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (KTHV) - Modern gun deer season is just around the corner, and some hunters are using their skill to give back to the community.

Arkansas Hunters Feeding the Hungry is entering its 16th year feeding and serving food banks across the state. To date, AHFH has provided over 3,000,000 servings of wild game to over 100 agencies across the state.

The Hot Springs Village Urban Hunt thus far has provided over 7,000 pounds of venison burger, enough to provide of 28,000 servings to needy families in the Garland County area.

The organization currently works with Project Hope Food Bank, Pleasant Hill Baptist, Crossgate Church, Lake Hamilton Parent Center, Salvation Army and Piney Methodist Church.

Through the hard work of the Arkansas Hunters Feeding the Hungry, the venison processors, HSV Urban Hunt and the hunters donating the meat" said Ted Thompson Director at Project HOPE Food Bank "many people in our community that would have gone hungry have had food. A special thanks to everyone involved in this wonderful endeavor."
