26-yr-old sexually assaulted after leaving Hot Springs bar

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (KTHV) - A man was placed in custody Friday after allegedly assaulting a 26-year-old female back in September.

On September 4, officers with the Hot Springs Police Department discovered an incoherent 26-year-old at the 100 block of Ross Street complaining to emergency personnel that she had been sexually assaulted.

According to police reports, the victim at first was only able to answer minimal questions. Her three friends told police that the night began at Boondocks Pool Hall, where they say the 26-year-old was awake and not intoxicated. While at Boondocks, a male by the name of Shawn McKinney walked up to them and started hanging around. The victim reportedly left Boondocks to ride with McKinney to meet up with her friends at the next location. McKinney later arrived at the next location and told the victim's friends that she was passed out in his truck.

An ambulance was called to scene, and the victim began complaining that she was sexually assaulted.

After further investigation, McKinney, a former deputy with the Garland County Sheriff's Office, was arrested on Friday, November 6 for rape. He was booked into the Garland County Detention Center and his bond was set at $75,000.
