Water tanks restored to normal levels; voluntary water conservation request lifted

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (City of Hot Springs) - Now that water tanks have reached normal levels at the city’s Ouachita Water Treatment Plant, the voluntary water conservation request of Hot Springs Municipal Utilities customers has been lifted.

The plant suffered a power outage in addition to a lightning strike to the generator that provides backup power during Monday night’s stormy weather. Entergy crews prioritized the restoration of electricity, and a generator was located in Memphis. “While water conservation is always a good practice, the crisis period is over,” said City Manager David Watkins.  “Our thanks to all the residents and businesses that curtailed water use and helped restore the plant quickly to full production capacity.”

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. - Magic Springs Water and Theme Park has unveiled its 2015 concert series, comprising a diverse lineup of artists including country, rock, hip-hop, Christian and a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee.

“We have a great lineup for 2015 and believe our guests will be thrilled with the quality of entertainment we have coming,” said park general manager, Steve Honeycutt.  “It’s the best entertainment value in the state. Each concert costs a little more than $4 when you purchase a season ticket and you get access to the water and theme park all summer.”

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (ASMSA) - The Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences and the Arts will hold its 2015 commencement ceremony at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 23.

The ceremony will be held in Horner Hall at the Hot Springs Convention Center.

ASMSA will recognize 102 students in the Class of 2015. Eric Jackson, the general manager of Oaklawn Park, will be the commencement speaker. Alumni from various classes will be recognized during the ceremony, including the Class of 1995, the first graduating class from the school that is celebrating its 20-year anniversary this year.

Basketball tournament to benefit local youth organizations

BRYANT, Ark. (KTHV) - Boys and girls of all ages will hit the basketball courts on June 6 not only for the competition, but also for a good cause. 

Chick-fil-A off Reynolds Road in Bryant is teaming up with Landers of Benton and Team USA to host a Chick-fil-A Connect 3ON3 Basketball Tournament on Saturday, June 6. The event will be held at Bishop Park in Bryant and will benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Bryant and Team USA.

"We are very grateful for our growing customer base and believe strongly in giving back to the community where ever we can. It's a must," said Guy Parker, owner/operator of Bryant Chick-fil-A and sponsor of the tournament. The Chick-fil-A Connect 3ON3 Basketball Tournament will be a great way to provide fun and entertainment, while raising money for...two organizations that help ensure great futures for our local youth."

Cash prize for tagged fish in Hot Springs

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (KTHV) - Arkansas Game and Fish is awarding cash prizes to those who catch a fish and return their tag. 

According to Arkansas Game and Fish, staff member Andrew H. Hulsey Hatchery recently tagged and released 60 sport fish of various species in Lake Catherine and Lake Hamilton as part of Visit Hot Springs' annual Hot Springs Fishing Challenge. 

People who catch a tagged fish is asked to return the tag in exchange for a cash prize. The amount will range from $500 to $10,000. 

One fish was caught the first weekend in May and was worth $5,000.

MALVERN, Ark. (KTHV) - On Thursday, April 23, Malvern officials will be holding a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new LifeNet location.

The company will be located on Highway 270 behind Fred's. The ribbon cutting cermony will begin at 10 a.m. and it is open to the public.
