GARLAND COUNTY, Ark. (KTHV) - A sheriff's deputy was injured when his vehicle was struck by an alleged drunk driver.
Authorities say on-duty deputy Clayton Green in Garland Co., was traveling eastbound on Airport Road around 4:00 a.m. on Sunday when a westbound Ford pickup truck driven by Zachary Glisson, 27, was attempting to turn onto Adcock Road.
According to authorities, Deputy Green was unable to stop and Glisson's truck collided into his vehicle.
Glisson's truck then flipped, coming to rest on the driver's side near the close-by EZ Mart. The pickup and the deputy's vehicle each sustained around $8,000 in damages.
LifeNet responded to both men, who initially declined treatment. Later, Deputy Green went to St. Joseph's for treatment of a minor injury to his left forearm, which was apparently caused by the airbag deploying.
Authorities say Glisson appeared to be impaired and his blood/alcohol content was measured at .08 percent.
