One location restaurant chain prepares to expand in Little Rock, while a national name is setting its sights on well-trafficked corner of the capital city, according to this week's Arkansas Business newspaper.

First, Larry's Pizza, the buffet-style pizza slinger that opened its first location in southwest Little Rock in 1992, is adding a second west Little Rock location, this one at 801 S. Bowman Road. The space once housed Dragon Palace Buffet at the Bowman Station project. The new Larry's will be about 7,500 square feet.

But the chain isn't stopping there. Larry's is set to open a 4,500-square-foot location at the Dogwood Landing project at 3948 Central Ave., in Hot Springs.

Meanwhile, a sandwich shop that's already in North Little Rock is set to alter the look of Broadway in Little Rock.

The franchise owners of the McCain Boulevard location of Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwiches plans to put another Jimmy John's at 700 S. Broadway, which is currently the home of the Millionaire Room and an auto body shop.

The franchisees, Mike Langford of Jonesboro and Sean Miller of North Little Rock, bought the property for $235,000 from the William Thomas & Carolyn Garrett Trust early this month. The plan to demolish the structure there, build the restaurant and open this fall.

Arkansas Business has more on the Jimmy John's and Larry's Pizza plans here and here. Plus: A major home improvement and lumber retailer is once again setting its sights on a location in west Little Rock.
