First downtown “game plan” meeting scheduled for Mon., March 31

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (GHSCC) – The first of a scheduled four hearings by the downtown Hot Springs “Game Plan” Task Force will take place at 5:30 p.m. Monday, March 31 in the Board of Directors Chambers at Hot Springs City Hall.   The panel will hear presentations from City Manager David Watkins, Fire Chief Ed Davis, Deputy City Manager Bill Burrough, Chief Building Official Mike Scott, Greater Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce President Jim Fram and Visit Hot Springs CEO, Steve Arrison.

The meeting is open to the public and will be televised on the city’s public access Resort Cable Channel 12.  Questions, comments or suggestions from the public may be submitted in writing at the meetings or via a blog set up at the City of Hot Springs web site.  Go to  hotsprings.net and choose City Blog under the Our Community tab.  

The nine community leaders who make up the task force are:

  • Corey Alderdice, Director,  Arkansas School of Mathematics, Sciences and the Arts,
  • Courtney Crouch, President of Selected Funeral and Life Insurance Company,
  • Keeley DeSalvo, President of PS Foods, District 6 City Director
  • Randy Fale, Mark Fleischner, owner of Lauray’s The Diamond Center,
  • Paul Riser, 2014 Chairman of the Hot Springs Metro Partnership,
  • Bryan Smith, 2014 Chairman of the Greater Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce, and
  • Les Warren, past Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce.
  • Ron Wehmann, a retired Weyerhaeuser Company executive will serve as moderator.

The next meeting of the Task Force is Monday, April 7, at which time the panel will hear presentations from a number of downtown property owners who are encouraged to discuss their projects, any obstacles they’ve encountered and their future plans.
