HOT SPRINGS – The City of Hot Springs released a Request for Proposals for abatement and demolition services for what is commonly known as the Majestic Hotel “red brick” portion, along with the Lanai Tower, Lanai Suites and parking deck structures.

The property, consisting of approximately 5.1 acres, is located at 101 Park Avenue at the intersection of Central and Whittington avenues in downtown Hot Springs.

The project scope includes abatement and disposal of hazardous materials from the four structures, with accompanying air monitoring; salvage of fixtures and materials when feasible; demolition and removal of construction debris, erosion and sediment control measures; removal and disposal of any underground storage tanks; and security for the buildings and grounds during the contract work.

A timeline of activities, including a mandatory on-site meeting on May 11 for all interested contractors, has a proposal submission deadline of Friday, June 3.

Alternate proposals are included in the RFP for salvage work to protect and preserve the Majestic Hotel signage located on the rooftop of the red brick structure for use by the city, as well as hauling and disposal of debris and associated tipping and landfill fees.
