Maxwell Blade's Festival of Magic visits Hot Springs

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. - The first ever Maxwell Blade’s Festival of Magic kicks off September 24 and runs through September 27 at Maxwell Blade’s Theatre of Magic and Comedy located at 121 Central Ave. in downtown Hot Springs.

While most of the shows will be held at the theater, Bank of the Ozarks Arena will host several performances, as will various venues throughout the city.

Blade has been performing in Hot Springs for nearly two decades and wants to bring talent from across the globe to perform magic and comedy for the families of Hot Springs and its visitors. Blade’s novelty shop, Maxwell Blade’s Museum of Oddities and Curiosities, stands just next door to the Theatre of Magic, and will be open for those audience members who want to take a piece of the show home with them.

Blade is dedicated to putting on an entertaining show that’s fun for the entire family. His performances are full of professional quality illusions and humor that is witty enough for adults to enjoy yet always suitable for children. Blade invited performers who share this philosophy.

The ever-expanding list of guest performers includes some of the freshest up-and-coming names in magic and comedy and also established legends in the industry such as Bizzarro the Optical Illusionist, who appeared on America’s Got Talent and several other television spots. Bizzarro is an illusionist with a distinctly slapstick style. On stage he strives to prove that “normal is just a setting on a dryer.” Rokas Bernatonis, a young magician, will be traveling to Hot Springs from Lithuania to perform at Blade’s festival. Derrick Rose will wow the adults with his illusions and give the kiddies a thrill with his balloon art.

With performers such as Michael Finney, Hot Springs’ own Scott Davis, John Venus, and of course, the headliner, Maxwell Blade himself. Maxwell Blade’s Festival of Magic is sure to be one of the Spa City’s biggest events this fall.
