Update: Man arrested in Hot Springs woman's death


HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (KTHV) – Hot Springs police have arrested a man in connection with a shooting death that happened Sunday night.

On Tuesday evening, police arrested 28-year-old Kendrion Gulley for the murder of 28-year-old Felicia Mikel.

According to Lt. Duane Tarbet, the shooting happened around midnight on the 200 block of Oak Street. Mikel was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering a single gunshot wound to her upper torso.

Detectives said they believe the shooting was the result of an argument over personal property.

Detectives with the Hot Springs Police Department developed information on a vehicle Gulley was driving, and patrol officers located the vehicle parked at 305 Vista Street in Hot Springs.

Arkansas' first indoor marching band contest


HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (KTHV) - Marching bands from across Arkansas and Texas will make their way to Hot Springs on Saturday, and organizers aren't letting rain interfere.

Lake Hamilton Power Band Marching Invitational is moving its competition indoors to the Hot Springs Convention Center. That makes it Arkansas' first indoor marching band contest, according to the school.

Doors will open at 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 24. Finals start at 7:30 p.m.

The Lake Hamilton Band, also known as the power band of Arkansas, will take the stage at 9:30 p.m.

Malcom Jalil Easley, 22, was taken into custody on Wednesday, October 22 for shooting and killing 58-year-old Moore, who was found by police around 3:15 a.m. at Linwood Avenue and Garland Street.

Magic Springs partners with Project Hope Food Bank

Magic Springs partners with Project Hope Food Bank

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (KTHV) - A popular local attraction is teaming up with a charity organization to help those who need it the most. 

Lasting through the month of October and into the first of November, Magic Springs is working with Project Hope Food Bank of Hot Springs on several events. 

On Saturday, October 24 from 8 a.m. till 1 p.m., employees with Magic Springs are hosting a Monster Yard Sale and Blood Drive at the entrance of the park. The yard sale is open to the public and 10 percent of the proceeds will be given to Project Hope. A discount coupon to anyone who makes a purchase at the Yard Sale will also receive $10 off Magic Screams admission- making it $19.99.   

“It’s something our employees wanted to do for themselves, and they want to give back to the community at the same time,” said Steve Honeycutt, general manager of Magic Springs.

GARLAND COUNTY, Ark. (KTHV) -- A wife and daughter are dead, after being shot in their Hot Springs home.The suspected gunman is a family member.

55-year-old Eric Reid is behind bars Tuesday night, arrested for two counts of first degree murder charges."It's hard to predict and there's very little that law enforcement can do to prevent a situation like this," said Mike McCormick, Garland County Sheriff.
